Harp:

The harp has been in Mexico since the 16th Century when it was first brought by European priests.

From then on, the instrument has experienced many transformations all over Mexico. From the Highland of Chiapas to the hot lands of Sonora, the Mexican harp has many sizes, forms, and musical textures and colors. Each one enriched by its African, Native American, and European ancestry.

The Jarocho harp is the most common of them all and is native to the state of Veracruz. This is the harp I work with but I specialize in performing all style of Folk Mexican music.
