Zacbe Pichardo
Mr. Pichardo is a Chicago Performer, Composer and Educator native to Mexico City. He is versatile in a variety of musical instruments including: Harp, Accordion, Guitar, Percussion, and Zapateado. In 2007 and 2008 he was nominated for two GRAMMY® Awards and has also won four Chicago Music Awards. He performs with the Sones de Mexico ensembles, Ida y Vuelta, Third Coast Baroque, freelances and leads the cumbia band “Guapachosos”.
Mr. Pichardo has performed in prestigious U.S. venues coast-to-coast including: Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Getty Villa Museum, the House of Blues Chicago, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Symphony Center, Goodman theater, Steppenwolf Theater, and the White sox stadium to name a few. He has also performed internationally at the the N. C. P. A. in Beijing, China, the Nan Ying International Folk Festival in Taiwan, Los Laguitos in Tokyo, Japan, FESTARTE in Europe and Teatro Buen Dia in Havana Cuba.
His composition credits include “Tlaloc” for full symphonic orchestra, the “El Lio de Anna” film score for the Chicago Latino Film Festival, Original Theme songs at the Goodman and Steppenwolf theaters, a variety of original cumbia songs for the band “Guapachosos” and multiple commissions by Sones de Mexico Ensemble including “Pensamiento”, “Madre Tierra” and “Origenes Ancestrales”, the later of which was recorded and released in the album 13 B’ak’tun (2013).
